Administrative Assistant for the Front Desk
Job Summary: Greet and warmly welcome members of the congregation and the community, informing them of church activities, schedules, church procedures and connecting them to appropriate staff members who can assist them with their needs or requests. Serve as the "voice" of LAUMC.
Responsibilities include:
- Welcoming all who walk in
- Answering phones & questions in friendly, warm, easily understood manner and competently redirecting calls
- Accessing and maintaining EventU (Church computer-based facilities scheduling calendar; interface with community groups, enter events, coordinate facilities scheduling and maintain records)
- Caring for and keeping neat reception area
- Handling all mail & postage meter
- General office support as needed including mailings, etc.
Skills Required:
- Confidentiality
- Warm, compassionate personality; good people skills
- Able to master new computer programs; accurate data entry ability
- Applicable, related receptionist experience
- Able to "job-share" front desk responsibilities effectively with like person

LAUMC offers a medical and dental insurance plan for employees scheduled to work a minimum of 30 hours per week. Eligibility for this coverage begins on the first day of employment. Premiums are currently paid in full for full-time employees. Vacation and sick leave are accrued for hourly employees and salaried employees are "granted" a yearly number of vacation and sick days. A generous holiday schedule is posted each year. Suggestions for improving LAUMC are always welcome. We maintain an "open door" policy and provide steps to follow to express an employee's issues of concern without fear of retaliation.
