Do you love kids? Are you a thrifty shopper? Are you a bargain hunter? If so, we'd like to welcome you to be a volunteer chaperone at our annual Children's Shopping Spree. West Valley Community Services is looking for adult volunteers who are interested in chaperoning children aged 6 to 16 at this wonderful event at JC Penney (Cupertino Square) 7:15–9:30am, Sunday, August 8. Radical Hospitality Committee

Imagine being a stranger to the faith, visiting LAUMC for the first time. Would the stranger find LAUMC to be a welcoming, inviting congregation supporting newcomers as they enter our community of faith? Now imagine yourself being part of LAUMC Radical Hospitality Committee ensuring that everyone feels welcomed as they enter our community of faith.

Radical Hospitality means "drastically different from the ordinary practice, outside the normal," and so it provokes practices that exceed expectations, that go the second mile, that take welcoming the stranger to the max. It means people offering the absolute utmost of themselves, their creativity, their abilities, and their energy to offer the gracious invitation and reception of Christ to others. (Excerpt from Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations, Robert Schnase, Abingdon Press 2007)

If you are interested in becoming a part of Radical Hospitality Committee or would like more information about Radical Hospitality, contact Leslie Williams-Hurt (hurtlm@sbcglobal.net).

Other Ministry Opportunities

Men's Ministry

The United Methodist Men are looking for one or two men to coordinate monthly and/or quarterly events and assist with the yearly retreat. This group includes men of all ages and stages.

Streaming Volunteers Needed

We will soon launch live streaming for all our morning worship services and we need your help. This is a very cool ministry area for tech savvy people with welcoming personalities. You would be responsible for monitoring the stream and saving the archive, but most importantly welcoming and ministering to our internet audience through the chat room. The tech side of this job is minimal and can be easily taught, but we are looking for people who enjoy being online and connecting with people all over the globe. If interested in more information please contact: cindygolden@laumc.org

Angels on Call

Be an angel! Help people in their time of need by delivering a meal, running errands, etc. once a month to someone in our congregation.

Pick a Possibility!

Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received. 1 Peter 4:10 (NIV)
