UMCOR Disaster Relief
Throughout the year, you can contribute to the disaster relief in the U.S., Taiwan, Turkey, Central America, South America and elsewhere through UMCOR.
During the year, emergency requests are made to meet the needs of unexpected or emergency situations. There are several ways to contribute to disaster relief through UMCOR.
100% of all donations go toward helping people affected by tragedies.
Buck-a-Month
On the second Sunday of each month, a local agency supported by LAUMC receives a contribution from members. You can donate to the Buck-a-Month agency every second Sunday of the month before and after the morning worship services. Click here for a list of all agencies supported during 2009. You can also find out this month's Buck-a-Month agency in the current issue of the Good News.

CSA Food Donation Drive
The Outreach Committee sponsors a Food Drive on the 4th Sunday of every month, benefiting our local food bank, CSA. If you are interested in being part of the Food Drive Team of volunteers, please contact Kathy Nahman at knahman@comcast.net.
Rebuilding Together
LAUMC has organized teams of 20-30 people to repair the homes of low-income families in the South Bay as part of Rebuilding Together days. Rebuilding Together matches up needy families with work teams from a variety of organizations. LAUMC has typically participated in the Project Day that occurs in late October. Past projects have included a wide variety of tasks that are suitable for a group with varied skill levels, including: painting, cabinets, yard clean-up, stairs, porches, electrical, plumbing and other tasks. In just one day, the team can make a lasting difference in the life of a low-income family. For more information, contact Leslie Carmichael at carm-lee@pacbell.net or (650) 941-0260.
