Mission Trips and Programs
Mexico Mission — April 11-18, 2009

For many years, Los Altos United Methodist Church has sent teams of volunteers down to Mexico to build homes for families in need. The trip is usually held in April, and sign-ups begin early in the year. Check out the Mexico Mission Trip page for more details about this family-friendly mission trip. Our next Mexico Mission Trip will be April 11-18, 2009.

Mississippi Hurricane Relief Trip — February 15-22, 2009

LAUMC sent three teams to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in early 2006 to repair and work on houses damaged by Hurricane Katrina. Two more trips to Mississippi followed in February 2007 and 2008, this time the work focused on rebuilding, including sheetrock, wiring, painting, etc. In February 2009, you will have the opportunity to participate in our next Mississippi Mission Trip — learn more here.

Fernley Flood Relief Trip — August 29 – September 1 or 2

On January 5, 2008, a 30-foot section of the Truckee Canal breached, flooding an area of approximately two square miles. Over 800 homes in Fernley's southeast neighborhoods filled with water. The Northern California-Nevada United Methodist Conference has asked for groups to help repair the flood-damaged houses. Our group will be doing a wide variety of home repairs/rehabilitation such as flooring, drywall, painting, etc. Click here to learn more about this relief trip opportunity and to sign-up.

LAUMC Mission Accomplished

Los Altos United Methodist Church sponsors a variety of missions that take church members, friends and guests all over the world to follow in Jesus' footsteps, bringing the message of love with open arms to others.

Often in the course of a mission trip, not only are the people to whom the mission is directed moved by the love of Christ seen in the eyes of the participants, but the participants themselves are awakened to the power of faith in action.

As the blessing says, "Thank you Lord for this day, to work and to play, and to do good deeds." Amen.
