In January 2009, a group of long-time church members joined together to explore the possibility of LAUMC becoming a "reconciling church." Reconciling churches welcome all persons into full participation in the life of the congregation regardless of age, sex, racial or ethnic background, sexual orientation, marriage status, or physical or mental condition.
Mission
The mission of the reconciling task force is to explore ways to invite and welcome people of all sexual orientations and gender identities into the life of the United Methodist Church, both in policy and practice. In particular, the goal is to extend a welcome to the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) people because they have been expressly excluded by the national church.

Past Event
September 26 – "What Does the Lord Require of You" Workshop, 8:30AM – 2:30PM, Sanctuary
This was an exciting, interactive program designed for all within the LAUMC community to learn about what it means to become a reconciling church. It focused on providing attendees insight, information and a thoughtful and caring environment to engage in dialogue around our reconciling discernment process and the impact this path will have on our church. More information is available at "What Does the Lord Require of You" Workshop.
