Donations

Did you know that 2% of all gifts to LAUMC's Operating Fund automatically go to an Outreach cause? Our Outreach benevolence gifts and our conference giving represent our faithful commitment to others in the local and global community. Reaching out to seniors, families, and youth in need year-round, we loyally support more than 40 organizations designated by our Outreach Council, as well as Methodist missionaries.

In addition, our conference and global church ministries donations (apportionments) allow members of our faith to be connected in doing good deeds around the world every day, through funds such as the World Service Fund and the Africa University Fund. Giving is truly an act of faith!

YWCA Support Network For Battered Women

In 2011, the LAUMC Outreach Council and congregation continued to respond to the difficult economic situation in our own community, country and world by focusing our support on organizations that offer support of Basic Needs of Food, Shelter and Education. Our monthly food drive collected 3,254 pounds of food donated to Community Services Agency (CSA) in Mountain View. Our Buck-A-Month program collected $37,748 and an additional $36,995 for the Advent Conspiracy, benefitting Hope's Corner and Living Water (2011 Buck-A-Month Recipients). Those are just a few examples of the donations made by LAUMC — for the full list, click on 2011 Outreach Giving. We celebrate this outpouring of generosity as a sign that God's love is alive in our choice to care for one another!

UMCOR Disaster Relief

Throughout the year, you can contribute to the disaster relief in the U.S., Taiwan, Turkey, Central America, South America and elsewhere through UMCOR.

During the year, emergency requests are made to meet the needs of unexpected or emergency situations. There are several ways to contribute to disaster relief through UMCOR.

  • Use the UMCOR Emergency Offering envelopes found in the Sanctuary and make your checks out to LAUMC and in the notes section write Disaster Relief.
  • Drop off your cash donation at the church office.
  • Visit the UMCOR webpage and donate online.

100% of all donations go toward helping people affected by tragedies.

Buck-a-Month

On the second Sunday of each month, a local agency supported by LAUMC receives a contribution from members. You can donate to the Buck-a-Month agency every second Sunday of the month before and after the morning worship services. Click here for a list of all agencies supported during 2011. You can also find out this month's Buck-a-Month agency in the current issue of the Good News.

Vehicle Donations

If you are cleaning out your garage and happen to find an extra car, consider donating it to LAUMC! The vehicle doesn't need to be smogged, registered, or even running (but it does need to be tow-able). Proceeds from the donation will be administered by the Gifts and Memorials Committee and will be used for needs not covered by the church operating budget. All vehicle donations are handled through an organization called Charitable Auto ResourceS (CARS). Click here for all the information needed to make the donation.

CSA Food Donation Drive

Every fourth Sunday LAUMC holds a food drive to benefit people in need in our own community through Community Services Agency. Please bring to church non-perishable food items, such as flour, cereal, canned fruit or vegetables, canned meat, condiments, sugar, cooking oil, etc. View the flyer for more information. If you are interested in volunteering to help with food collection and delivery, please contact Kathy Nahman at knahman@comcast.net.
