Hope's Corner
A Joint Ministry of Trinity United Methodist Church and Los Altos United Methodist Church

Hope's Corner Hope's Corner is a joint program of Los Altos and Trinity United Methodist Churches to provide comfort and assistance to people in need by providing a free breakfast and sack lunch. The location of the service is at Trinity United Methodist Church, 748 Mercy Street, at the corner of Hope and Mercy Streets. The existing facilities and rooms are used, mainly the social hall, which can accommodate up to 125 persons, and the kitchen.

Hope's Corner According to Second Harvest Food Bank, 1 in 4 people in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties are facing hunger. In Mountain View, the Community Services Agency operates a Food Pantry on Monday–Friday (closed to clients on Tuesday), but there is only one free meals program in Mountain View, the Sunday "Breakfast with Friends" program at the Seventh Day Adventist Church at 1425 Springer Road. The other nearest meal programs are the Breaking Bread program in Palo Alto/Menlo Park and other programs in Sunnyvale.

In Phase I of the program, Hope's Corner provides a simple "continental style" breakfast and a bag lunch on Saturday mornings between 8:30–10:30am. Phase 1 of the program also includes occasional (up to 4 per year) holiday meals to be "catered" with food preparation at LAUMC and then transported and served at Trinity.

Donate Online Phase 2 of the program will include a new kitchen and restrooms to enable cooking up to 6 hot meals per week at Trinity United Methodist Church. A new kitchen will also open other possibilities, such as a non-profit bakery to provide food service training and employment. You can help us raise the funds needed for the new kitchen and restrooms by making a donation. Donations by check should be made out to LAUMC and note "Hope's Corner" on the memo line. You can also donate online.

In developing this program, the organizers from Trinity UMC and LAUMC built on their belief that looking after persons in need is not only a communal responsibility, but also a way to live out Jesus' instruction to "Love your neighbor as yourself."
