Ceremonies at Los Altos UMC

At Los Altos United Methodist Church we offer four different kinds of special ceremonies: baptisms, weddings, memorials and becoming a member of the church.

Baptism:

At LAUMC, we baptize infants and children under 12 when their parents are willing to make a confession of faith on the child's behalf. When the child reaches 12, they can take our Confirmation course in which they learn about Christianity. At the end of the course each young person can choose to "confirm" the vows taken on their behalf by their parents or, if they have never been baptized, be baptized at that time. Those over the age of 12 seeking to be baptized can meet with any of our pastors to discuss the process and the vows. Learn more here.

Weddings:

We assume Christian values in marriage, but impose no tests of belief or membership of any kind. Any couple ready to make a serious commitment in love to each other is welcome to have their wedding here. We offer you one of the most beautiful settings in the Bay Area. Our staff is experienced and sensitive to your particular needs. Our pipe organ is one of the finest available. Learn more here.

Memorial Services:

The pastors, staff, prayer teams and the congregation of the Los Altos United Methodist Church extend our deepest sympathy to anyone who has lost a loved one. All of us wish to offer our services to you in your time of special need. Learn more here.

Becoming a member:

If you would like to know more about becoming a member of LAUMC, we offer a six-week membership class called "Starting the Journey." Those wishing to join the church can do so at a Sunday worship service following the conclusion of this class. Learn more here.
